Artificial intelligence, which today is the vehicle of the great revolution in Spain and around the world, also has its uses to show us the world from a different perspective for us. How does AI imagine real-life people, objects or situations? We’ve seen how this technology envisioned the politicians from the leadership of the Spanish government, and now, we’re back to the demands this time with world leaders and their cars.
International Drivers Association, which is in charge of processing applications for IDPs or international driving licenses, has envisioned through AI what the official cars of major leaders around the world were, both past and present. On the list are the vehicles of the president and prime minister from all over the world.
Image generated by IDA, may be based on on the way, reveal the understanding of this AI system about world leaders. In fact, we clearly see striking cases like Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of Great Britain, where cultural prejudices far from the Anglo-Saxon prototype are discernible.
Great cars
The list includes up to 8 leaders, and among them, logically, is the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez. Joining him are Joe Biden (United States), Rishi Sunak (United Kingdom), Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy (Ukraine), Boris Johnson, Emmanuel Macron (France) and Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia.
Focusing on Pedro Sánchez, the picture is really striking. We see a Mercedes car (obviously referring to the official car used by Moncloa) and a vintage car, perhaps a reference to those that appear in classic propaganda videos from the Franco era. One of the funniest aspects is Sánchez’s performance with the flag of Andorra.
Another striking case is that of Rishi Sunak, the British Prime Minister. Although of Indian descent but of British origin, AI completely bases the car on it in his race. Although we clearly see the British car, in one of the pictures we can see to skinny Sunak next to a dusty rally car in the colors of the Indian flag. A sign of the trouble that comes with AI’s treatment of race.
Something very similar happened with the prime minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese. Arid terrain, vintage graphics, and the predominant orange color of the British-style car. Emmanuel Macron’s car is all European and especially official, in front of a French institution building.
However, the most striking case was that of Zelenskyy. The Russian invasion inevitably has to be a subject for AI to tackle, and it’s in the car that we see clearly inspired by images of military vehicles and camouflage, in aesthetics mixed with ruined landscapes or originating from the outskirts of Ukraine. Let’s remember that AI is based on images from the internet to make their creations, and the conflict will definitely affect the Ukrainian leader’s car.
