Looking for people after the car drove into the river
Emergency services responded Saturday morning to a traffic accident in Egersund, in which a car drove into a river.
– Unknown extent of damage, but appears to be serious, police wrote on Twitter.
An air ambulance was also called to the scene.
Operations manager Jøran Solheim said the car must have raced over the field and ended up on its roof in the river. It must be visible.
– There’s speed and water involved, so it looks serious, Solheim told TV 2.
In an update, police report that there is control over one person, and that person is conscious.
The man was found in the area around the car, and was first treated by an ambulance on the spot, before being taken to hospital by air ambulance.
He claimed that there was someone else in the car. A search was launched on land and in rivers for this man, before police reached him several hours later. The person was a man in his 20s.
Upon questioning, the police reported that they believed there was only one person in the car at the time of the accident.
– Police opened a case regarding the traffic accident itself, driving under the influence and driving without a valid driver’s license, they wrote on Twitter.
In addition, there will be a claim for compensation against the person for costs involved in the search operation.
