The Apromes brokerage association is developing new international activities. Its president, Javier García-Bernal, explains in this interview the reasons for and the benefits of this innovative move in Spanish mediation.
Apromes started to develop international activities, something that is not uncommon in brokerage associations. Why?
Over the years, Apromes has placed all its interests in international relations, which were fostered in its day as a result of our incorporation as an honorary member of the French Association of Insurance Brokers (SFAC). From there, we grew within the framework of the European Union, through merging local associations in various countries.
What activities do you develop in this area?
Within the framework of the EU, activity has been and continues to be an exchange of knowledge in training and, above all, in permanent bilateral cooperation to support our compatriots, to assist them, during their incursions into the countries where Apromes is present.
What country are they already in and where are they working to enter?
In Europe and with local partners, we are currently present in: UK, France, Portugal, Denmark, Luxembourg and Germany. Following our forays into these countries, we opened up corporate relationships with the highest prestige brokerage associations in: Dominican Republic, Panama, Bolivia, Argentina through the Fapasa federation, Brazil and more recently in Costa Rica, through the Fedecamaras Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Tourism Costa Rica.
What are the medium-term goals set on the international scene?
Maintain and strengthen existing relationships in terms of the above experience in various ways of conducting insurance distribution, as well as mediator training projects. Especially in Latin America, because Spanish insurance education arouses great interest and represents the prestige of education in our sister countries.
How do your colleagues respond to this new international presence?
For a long time, the basic pillar on our Board of Directors was the International Relations committee, which was formed as a result of the interest generated by a large number of associates, to develop commercial and professional relations, outside our country and representing them. future advancement in their business.
