Home Care Guild is committed to the international community so that home care is a comprehensive solution within the system

The Association of Chilean Home Health Institutions (Achisad) is responsible for representing our country for the first time at the World Congress on Home Hospitalization, whose scientific and technological meeting brought together 24 countries from different continents in Spain for three days.

With the aim of improving the quality of care for the more than 179,000 patients who received inpatient services at home in our country last year, and thereby contributing to the release of more critical and intermediate beds in our country’s health system. , The Chilean Association of Home Health Institutions (Achisad) represents our country at the World Hospitals at Home Congress (WHAHC), the main international meeting of the sector and this year brought together 24 countries in Barcelona,​​Spain.

As emphasized by the health union consisting of six companies in the field of Home Care, for the first time our country has been invited to this event and for the health sector it is considered the main international platform to showcase the latest innovations. both clinical and technological, home hospital services. In this meeting, and in which countries such as Australia, the United States, Spain, Singapore, Israel, Brazil, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, South Africa, Argentina and Taiwan, among others, participated, Achisad promised to contribute to the development of public policies that enhance the quality of these benefits in the public and private sectors, and in turn, home care is taking a bigger role in the health system in Chile.

Achisad’s vice president, Loreto Yáñez, assures “it is a global reality that home healthcare is transforming healthcare, even more so when the use of first-rate technology in remote patient monitoring, physical examination, and video-based, remote medicine , logistics, laboratories, and records online clinical Home Care works successfully in other countries because it is considered as a necessary home hospital for health care and it is a commitment that Chile has to live up to. That this modality of care has been seen as a comprehensive solution for the whole health system, which helps to free up beds and giving patients a better quality of life by being cared for in the comfort of their homes”.

The executive added that “the next major challenge will be coordination with hospital emergency departments and clinics where patients with a known diagnosis can receive care, continuity in postoperative care with safe medical discharge, and in an environment that provides the best patient experience during their recovery. Hybrid, remote, and face-to-face care must be optimized, and progress must be made towards deepening education, training, and role definition for those currently providing inpatient services at home.”

For this year’s edition, invited countries have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the latest technical, scientific and health developments in the field, as well as take a commitment to advance individually in new professional training; promote policies and regulations that support patient care; and accelerating technology adoption to enable them to increase the capacity and quality of services currently offered in their respective countries.

In addition, Achisad reports that our country is joining the new Ibero-American Home Care Association (ASIADES), whose international community will consist of countries such as Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Peru. As affirmed by the trade unions, this body aims to strengthen the development and appreciation of service provision and home health care in the countries concerned and, in turn, promote scientific, social, ethical and legal exchanges that encourage advice to governments, institutions, professionals , technicians and users for the benefit of patients.
