This popular sport increases the risk of skin cancer

Researchers from the University of South Australia, led by Dr. Brad Stenner, has disclosed these worrying results and has therefore issued a recommendation for golfers.

Dr. Stenner recommends using a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF) while playing golf to minimize the risk of skin cancer.

Additionally, golfers are advised to cover their arms and wear wide-brimmed hats instead of caps to protect themselves from harmful UV rays.

It is important to take the necessary precautions

While there are many positive aspects of playing golf for physical and mental health, Dr. Uttaler warns that sun protection campaigns may not be focused enough on golfers and their increased risk of skin cancer.

There are many types of skin cancer, including non-melanoma and melanoma.

In the UK, around 147,000 cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed each year, resulting in around 720 deaths each year.

These results underscore the need for more education and awareness about the potential risks of outdoor activities such as golf. Golfers must take the necessary precautions to protect their skin from harmful UV rays in order to maintain health and enjoy the sport safely.

The official annual report on the number of golfers in Norway shows that there are more than 129,000 active members in Norwegian golf clubs.
