Threads allow you to search for publications by keywords in Spanish and English

Until now, searches were only possible for new digital platform users.

Meta has announced a new feature in the Thread search section, which allows users to search for posts by specific keywords, a feature that has been implemented for searches in English and Spanish.

Threads is a ‘microblogging’ platform that Instagram launched in July this year and can now only be downloaded in certain countries, such as the United States or the United Kingdom, excluding the European Union (EU).

In its current format, Threads cannot start operating in member countries due to the type of user data it records and manages, which does not comply with the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Innovation

Waiting for this application to finally be launched in Europe with new regulations, the social network that was born to compete mainly with X (formerly Twitter) is implementing new features to improve the user experience.

The last one relates to the search part. Until now, searches could only be done based on platform users. However, Threads has begun testing a feature that guarantees users the ability to find posts with certain keywords.

This system, similar to the one already used by X in its ‘Featured’ section, has begun testing in Australia and New Zealand, as confirmed by Instagram head Adam Mosseri.

“Today we will start implementing it in English and Spanish, in countries where the majority of the population publishes in those languages, such as Argentina, India, Mexico and the United States,” he said from his channel, where he clarified that this feature will be used both on the web and on the mobile version of Threads.

Once a word or phrase is entered into a search engine, the platform will allow you to search for results with that term and, in turn, will display accounts that include it in their username.
