For 30 minutes, this Saturday the streets of Bilbao will have very special vehicles on their roads, and Formula Students will travel through the Biscayan capital from 12:30 to 13:00. ‘Driving Bilbao’ Event. With this vehicle we have taken part in the Formula Student competition at the Silverstone circuit in England and in the Spanish Formula Student at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit and now The people of Bilbao themselves can enjoy it.

The project consists of 49 students and 3 professors from Bilbao Engineering School, will pass through the main arteries of the capital city of Biscay escorted by the City Police. The event will start at 12:30 from Bizkaia Aretoa, and will last approximately thirty minutes, during which there will be a tour of the Sagrado Corazón, Gran Via, Plaza Euskadi, Bilbao City Hall and Arenal.

The ‘Driving Bilbao’ initiative in which electric racing vehicles from the Formula Student Bizkaia project traverse the city’s main streets has been held since 2015. coincides with Zientzia Astea hosted by UPV/EHU in November.

THIS IS THE VEHICLE

The vehicle, the FSB2023 prototype, is an electric racing single-seater producing nearly 110 HP; with autonomy adjusted to complete 22 laps be on the required track in the Formula Student event; all-wheel drive using four motors (wheel-drive technology); carbon fiber monocoque and aerodynamic package; weight 220 kilograms; top speed 110 kilometers/hour; acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers/hour in 3.8 seconds; and telemetry over Wi-Fi.

It is based on its predecessor technology, FSB2022 presents improvements in various areas: The chassis and aerodynamics have been designed together to maximize grip when cornering; the suspension is made of carbon fiber to reduce weight and maintain drivability; The battery pack has been optimized, reducing size, weight and compacting the package; and, finally, a braking energy recovery system has been implemented.
