MADRID, November 21. (EUROPA PRESS) –

85% of business leaders in Spain have already implemented generative artificial intelligence (AI) in their businesses or intend to do so in the next year, according to the ‘Leadership in the Age of AI’ report prepared by IBM.

The study, based on a survey of 1,600 senior managers and executives in the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy and Sweden, emphasizes that the high percentage registered in Spain is mainly due to “pressure from employees, management and investors. .

In this regard, the document shows that the business leaders surveyed confirmed that the three biggest sources of pressure to adopt generative AI come not only from competitors or consumers, but also from employees, board members, and managers, as well as investors.

“This is mainly due to the desire to modernize and increase operational efficiency,” the study authors concluded. In Spain 50% of participants – compared to the European average of 45% – use AI to automate routine processes and free up employees to take on valuable tasks higher.

This is followed by the potential of technology to improve customer experience (43%) and increase sales results (38% in Europe and 37% in Spain).

Regarding the challenges posed by the application of generative AI, respondents primarily highlighted the importance of its use within an ethical and inclusive framework, followed by the pressure to employ specialized talent and its economic implications.

On the other hand, the report also shows that improving AI skills is a priority, as 95% of European and 96% of Spanish leaders surveyed stated that they were taking steps to do so.

“Respondents prioritized upskilling the existing workforce before hiring new specialists and outsourcing to technology providers. On a personal level, managers are actively involved in expanding their knowledge of generative AI technologies (44% at European level and 41% in Spain), the regulatory and compliance landscape at Spanish and European level (41%) and ethical implications (41% in Europe ), and 45% in Spain,” the study added.
