– Economy Secretary Ninfa Cantú and Energy Development Minister José Ramón Silva meet with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Mexico

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. – With the aim of strengthening cooperation in the commercial, economic and educational fields, as well as promoting investment in Tamaulipas, the Secretary of Economy, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, and Energy Development, José Ramón Silva Arizabalo held a working meeting with His Excellency Mr. Jon Benjamín, ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in Mexico.

At the meeting held at the Bicentenario Tower in the state capital, the programs and actions of the administration of Governor Américo Villarreal were presented, as well as opportunities in the fields of economy, energy, education and strategic infrastructure, hydraulics and the environment.

When highlighting the state’s regional strengths, the Minister of Economy, Ninfa Cantú highlighted that Tamaulipas and the UK have a long history of friendship, cooperation and especially trust, as it is the 8th country that invests the most in Mexico and the 2nd country. which invested the most in Tamaulipas in 2022 in the north and south of the state.

«Under the leadership of Governor Américo Villarreal, our state underwent an unprecedented transformation and is today an ideal place for investment and business development in Mexico and Latin America. “Therefore, we are enthusiastic about the UK’s interest in learning more about the strengths of these entities and exploring new forms of cooperation and integration with the Tamaulipas government,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy Development explained the country’s potential in this sector and the development opportunities it represents for investment, as well as strategic projects such as the Matamoros North Port and investments such as those made by private companies in the oil sector. a sector that will consolidate the country’s energy leadership.

In turn, Ambassador Benjamin expressed the interest of British companies in strategic sectors and commitment to advancing commercial and investment relations with Tamaulipas, as well as strengthening ties with British state companies and institutions in areas such as education and the environment.

On behalf of the British embassy, ​​Joe Aragón, consul in Monterrey, Nuevo León, attended; Mariana Melgarejo, person in charge of High Level Visits at the British Embassy; Alejandra Chávez, Deputy Director of Press and Communications and Nick Perrot, Regional Security Director.

Guadalupe Acosta, Deputy Minister of Secondary and Higher Education, representing Secretary Lucía Aimé Castillo Pastor, and Oscar Rivera García, Director of Sociopolitical Analysis of the General Secretariat of the State Government, representing Secretary Héctor Villegas González, participated in the meeting.
