UK Chancellor of the Exchequer to tell G20 his country is open for business again

London, July 24 (EFE).- British Economy Minister Rachel Reeves will make her international debut as head of her portfolio with her attendance at the G20 Finance in Rio de Janeiro, where she will declare that her country, with a Labour government, is “open for business again”.

According to a statement from his department, Reeves will stress that “after years of uncertainty and instability” with successive Conservative governments, the new Executive’s priority is growth, which is why he will invite investors to “take a fresh look” at the UK.

“In the coming days, my message to international leaders will be simple: after years of uncertainty and instability, Britain is once again open for business,” said a minister in Keir Starmer’s government, after Labour’s landslide election victory three weeks ago.

According to him, this economic growth goal can only be achieved through cooperation with companies around the world and encouraging them to invest in future industries.

Likewise, she will use her status as the first woman in British history to become Chancellor of the Exchequer (a title given to the Minister of Economy) to promote the importance of women in finance.

At the G20, Reeves will also push for international collaboration in areas such as inequality, growth or progressive taxation.

Brazil has included talks on issues such as financing for sustainable development and taxes on the ultra-rich on the agenda. EFE
