The UK Foreign Office announced on Wednesday that it had summoned the Iranian embassy’s charge d’affaires in London to protest the “supply of ballistic missiles to Russia” for use in Ukraine.
“The UK government is clear that any transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia would be considered a dangerous escalation and would result in a significant response,” a UK diplomatic spokesman said in a statement.
Britain’s diplomatic chief, David Lammy, who travelled to Kyiv accompanied by his American counterpart, Antony Blinken, “ordered” the summons of Ali Matinfar, the spokesman added.
Blinken said Tuesday that Iran was supplying missiles to Russia for use “in the coming weeks” in Ukraine, a former Soviet republic that has faced an invasion by Moscow’s forces since February 2022.
As a result, the United States, Britain, France and Germany announced new sanctions against Iran, particularly on air transport.

Iran has rejected the allegations, calling them “false and misleading information.”
