Lillestrm – Vålerenga – Weird scene as LSK take over the top of the table

Lillestrm – Vlerenga 2-0 (0-0)

RÅSEN (Dagbladet): Spectators waited with big frames around the derby between Lillestrm and Vålerenga, but some incidents should have been avoided.

The finish itself was a tense battle, but the teams had two different starting points before tonight’s race: Lillestrm fought their way to the top of the Elite Series and were able to take over the top of the standings, while Vålerenga dropped in tenth place.

At first, Lillestrm controlled the match, but although several goal chances could have been used, it was goalless at the break.

After the break, the fans had to wait a long time for a big chance, but after 63 minutes the opportunity exploded. Ylldren Ibrahimaj found LSK midfielder Tom Pettersson, who stabbed the ball into the net.

VIF coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo made several moves to turn things around, but it was still Lillestrm who were the best and ten minutes from time Espen Garns made it 2-0.

Lillestrm have become too strong for the visitors from Oslo, and thus can celebrate the three points and top the table. Vålerenga now have four league games without a win.

– This very tasty. The fans were huge tonight, so it was great to be able to give something back. They gave us a lot of energy and therefore it was okay to give everything, Gjermund sen told Dagbladet.

– We have to work on the derby in Norway and that means extra to take three points against a rival. Now we’ll soak in the caramel for an hour, before we focus further on finishing on Sunday. The whole group wants to take a new step and continue to work really hard, he continued.

– Be damned annoying

Aron Dønnum of Vålerengas disappointed after finishing at rsen.

– Calm in the dressing room and a lot of frustration. So it’s strange, he told Dagbladet.

After a 2-0 loss, Vlerenga have played four matches at the Eliteserien and four against Lillestrm without a win.

– I don’t know what to say, but it’s annoying and boring. The great thing about football is that you learn to forget things behind you and that there are new opportunities. “It sucks, but we just have to get ready for Sunday’s game,” said Dnnum.

– The clan never disappoints and supports us completely. I feel like we gave everything and bleed for the suit, but no. We didn’t defend ourselves well enough, and then we conceded two goals.

Stop the fight

The match had just started when the referee had to stop the match again.

It was because the away supporters had thrown fire on the pitch, and the field staff had to come out to clear the pitch.

The hosts were clearly off to a great start when the finish finally started again. Akor Adams of Lillestrm already had two golden opportunities with ten minutes on the clock, but none of the striker’s efforts threatened Kjetil Haug at home to VIF.

Then loanee Aron Dønnum grabbed hold and tried from distance, but his finish was saved comfortably by Mads Christiansen.

Lillestrm took control and Gjermund sen quickly had a good chance but his shot went straight into the VIF block.

Both teams had workable goal opportunities towards the end of the half, but were still goalless at the break.

– We had to make a bit more, was a message from Fagermo, who replaced Petter Strand for Taofeek Ismaheel and moved Osame Sahraoui down the left flank after the break.

Stab match

The second half started off as the first, with a non-sporting focus. A spectator from LSK’s turn threw a bottle onto the field, which only hit Vålerenga in the head.

After a short break, it was the hosts who had the upper hand, but the big chances were long overdue.

Despite few chances and mixed performances, the first goal came suddenly. Midfielder Tom Pettersson slotted the ball into the net after a lovely pass from Ylldren Ibrahimaj.

Ten minutes from full time, Espen Garns found his way into the net and Lillestrm took a 2-0 lead. The visitors came in with a small final sprint, but kept Lillestrm away and secured the win.
