With the VI Cooperative America Summit, in terms of the economic impact that will occur at the national level, it is projected to transfer US$600,000, which will be financed with the resources actually generated by the event and which will increase local income. economy, tourism, handicrafts, hotels, logistics workforce, technology and business networks for the productive sector, according to César Cruz Roa, Paraguay representative before the American Regional Cooperative Council of the International Cooperative Alliance (ACI).

This will be a space to show the world the value of cooperativism, in particular Paraguay, which showcases the work of cooperatives for savings and loans, housing, education, services, employment, production and more, said representatives of local organizers during the conference. the meeting was held at the Itá Enramada Convention Center, Cooperative University, which brought together 400 sector leaders.

The VI Cooperative Summit of America projects 1,200 people to participate in person and 800 virtually. The event carries the motto: “A collaborative commitment to rebuild and care for our local and global community.”

In addition to the VI Americas Cooperative Summit, which will take place from October 24 to 27, 2022 in Luque at the Conmebol headquarters Convention Center, the major event includes the holding of the VIII Continental Law Congress scheduled to begin October 27. until October 29 at the fifth Ykua Sati.

“Across the various axes, we will all feel represented. Production cooperatives, where I am, will be the axis of climate change, sustainable production and we will present all the examples we have in Paraguay to be able to proudly say that we make and produce food for the world and we do it sustainably, because we believe that this is the future”, asserts Simona Cavazzutti, president of the Paraguay Confederation of Rural Cooperatives (Concopar).

He said parallel meetings are also planned in different workshops and participants will be able to choose which one to attend, according to their entity’s area of ​​interest. Regarding gender equality, which was the main axis of the meeting, as the challenge it represented for the sector, it was stated: “Cooperatives as social entities, with values, with doctrines that address these issues and thus support society, for the community”, reports Myriam Báez Rojas, president of the Federation of Savings and Loans Cooperatives (Fecoac).

Jorge Cruz Roa, president of the Paraguay Federation of Multiactive Cooperatives (Fecomulo) said: “In an election year, cooperative members will demonstrate the values ​​of solidarity, mutual assistance which are of great benefit to society.”

Carlos Núñez Agüero, president of the Paraguayan Confederation of Cooperatives (Compacoop) referred to the challenges of economic and social recovery after two years of the pandemic and said that this space would be conducive to generating new mechanisms for reactivation of the economy with a solidarity approach.
