As is well known, Hansen was recently fired as a coach at Mjøndalen, but it didn’t take long before he was ready as an expert on Discovery, where he was reunited with his former Mjøndalen student, Gauseth.

On Sunday, the two sat down together in the studio for the first time, and covered a round of the elite series on Fotball Direct.

Hansen told Dagbladet that before the broadcast started, he told Gauseth that there shouldn’t be too much nonsense between the two, who have known each other well since they were in Mjøndalen.

– I told Gauseth that he should try to moderate himself as best he can. I said that “it can’t just be bullshit and gibberish”, said Hansen.

He continued:

– But Gauseth has his style, and I’m very new to this, so there are definitely some things to improve for the next broadcast. I would assume there is room for improvement.

Critics

Feedback from viewers didn’t take long. Some people thought on Twitter that Gauseth was really rude to Hansen at times, and the two could resemble an old married couple.

– Are Gauseth and Vegard Hansen going to continue this kind of passive-aggressive banter for the rest of the season, right? I can’t take it, was one of the responses on Twitter.

Hansen accepted the criticism with devastating composure. He didn’t recognize himself in the relatively snappy description.

– Christian and I have always had a rather special relationship, and that might shine a bit. Christian is Christian, and so am I. “I’m not offended, nor have I reacted anything,” said Hansen.

He says that Gauseth has always been “like that”, that the two have a joking tone, and thus there’s no more behind it.

– This is not at all problematic for me, Hansen insists.

Gauseth himself told Dagbladet that Eliteserie supporters could expect more from him and Hansen.

Gauseth had no plans to change the screen to avoid a massacre.

– We is husband and wife. We’ve been married for nine years, so that’s one hundred percent true. And in cohabitation, understanding, and exasperation, of the couple thrives. That’s what Vegard and I have, said Gauseth.

He says that both will not agree on everything.

– I will continue to look down on him, and he will definitely be exactly like me. If anyone thinks this is difficult, or reacts to this here, then they will have a hard time in the future. There will be more than this.

Experts rage: – Go to hell

He explained that supporters are welcome to have their say, and it’s great that people are interested in what they do.

– This is really great, but we have to solve it the way we always do, with professional weight, analysis, fresh discussion, disagreement, jab and humor. Just fasten your seat belts, because there will be a lot of the same going forward.

New sting

Gauseth confirmed that prior to the broadcast on Sunday he was told by Hansen that there shouldn’t be too much bullshit. At the same time, he couldn’t resist sending another jab towards his former Mjøndalen coach:

– Now I don’t think Vegard will come on the first broadcast and think too much about how we should do it, Gauseth chuckled, before he got more serious:

– We talk together both about academic aspects and discussions. But I never worried it would be too loud. If I had to say what I mean, I think there is room for more twinkle in the eye and humor in Norwegian football coverage.
