President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.
According to a statement from the Presidential Communications Office, during the conversation they discussed Turkish–British Relations and regional affairs.
President Erdogan stated that they had maintained close dialogue with Boris Johnson during his tenure and further developed relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect and understanding.
Erdogan clarified that he believes that relations with Britain, which is a strategic partner and close ally, will be deepened and developed in the coming period with the same common sense and foresight.
Meanwhile, the statement delivered by Number 10 Downing Street stated that both leaders welcomed the growth trade between England and Turkey.
It was noted that the leaders wanted to expand Free trade agreement between the two countries to take advantage of the momentum of economic growth, and also emphasized that they discussed new and exciting opportunities to enhance cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy and defense technology.
“Prime Minister Johnson congratulated President Erdogan on Turkey’s much-needed global leadership, which recently helped end the russian wheat lock in Ukraine,” the statement said.
In addition, in his statement, Johnson has reportedly stressed the importance of continuing to support Ukraine against an unprovoked invasion of the country, including the continuation of strong economic sanctions against Russia.
And it was underlined that Johnson and Erdogan agreed that relations between Britain and Turkey would continue to grow stronger.
