Amancio Ortega weighs in on buying Facebook’s European headquarters in Dublin for 550 million

Inditex founder Amancio Ortega, through his investment arm Pontegadea, is considering buying the future headquarters of Meta, the conglomerate that groups Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, in Dublin, for 550 million euros, according to the ‘React News’ portal.

In the event that the operation materializes, for which negotiations can be moved forward, Ortega will become the owner of the Fibonacci Square office project, with an area of ​​100,000 square meters, six buildings and a capacity to accommodate 8,000 people.

From Pontegadea they declined to comment on the transaction.

With this purchase, the Inditex founder will add new assets to his investment portfolio, most recently the acquisition of a second logistics asset in the United States, specifically a distribution center in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), for $148 million. (about 147 million euros).

This is the second logistics asset that the Inditex founder has acquired in a North American country after last August he took over the platform occupied by the company FedEx at Menomonee Falls in Wisconsin (United States) for 35 million dollars (approximately 34 million euros).

The founder of Inditex invests part of the dividends he receives from textile companies in the real estate sector through his investment company Pontegadea Inmobiliaria.

In fact, Ortega owns the largest Spanish real estate company, with a portfolio of real estate assets consisting mostly of non-residential office buildings located in the center of major cities in Spain, the UK, the United States and Asia.
