At El Dorado airport, for the first time 244 passengers from Colombia traveled to London without needing to carry visas. This measure adopted by the Colombian and British governments allows tourists to visit destinations for up to 6 months.

At the launch, the British Ambassador, George Hodgson, said: “I am pleased to say goodbye to the first Colombian to travel to the UK without needing a visitor visa. We hope that these changes will result in more opportunities to enjoy the great things that the UK has to offer, both in tourism and business, culture, sport and of course to deepen the ties between our two peoples, especially Colombia and the families who live there. Avianca’s direct flights make the UK even more accessible. Hopefully the increased interest from travelers will allow more direct flights to open!”.
With this important milestone, different airlines are extending their weekly frequency to these destinations. For example, Avianca offers 2 routes with a frequency of 14 times a week, so foreigners from both countries can enjoy tours from both countries without restrictions.

“We applaud the decisions announced by the governments of the two countries. As the only airline connecting Colombia with the United Kingdom and passengers flying from Peru, we are very optimistic about the future of this route. As we have announced, we will work hand-in-hand with Heathrow airport and various authorities in the UK to increase our presence and capacity between Bogotá and London during 2023. From Avianca we will continue to contribute to strengthening ties between countries, as well as tourism and business”, said Felipe Andrés Gómez, Director of Institutional Relations and Avianca Sustainability.
