BAE Business | Britain wants to ban asylum for illegal migrants

prime Minister Of Great Britain, Rishi Sunak, next week will announce new regulations which will ban migrants arriving in small boats to ask for asylum, according to local media reports.

However, governments may face legal and practical obstacles in this matteramid fears that the law could violate the European Convention on Human Rights, wrote The Times.

Likewise, migrants who come with small boats are expected detained and transferred “to their country of origin or to a safe third country as soon as possible,” a spokesperson for the UK Home Office said.

Alternative

According to Bappenas data, in 2022 the arrival of 45,755 people with small boats was detected, 60% more than in 2021. Most of those arriving in small boats are seeking asylum. This will be in 2022, when 90% apply for asylum or are listed as dependents on the asylum application, the ministry detailed.

The Times reported last month that Sunak was preparing for a legal battle aimed at preventing migrants who arrived in the country illegally by boat from applying for their deportation. Newspaper stated that one of his proposals was to remove illegal migrants’ right to appeal their automatic exemption from the asylum system.

The second variant allows migrants to appeal only after being deported. The third proposal would prevent them from using Human Rights Law to avoid deportation, for example, by claiming their right to family life.
