The summer of 2023 broke records with 33.8 million tourists across the country. This figure is an increase of 4.6% compared to last year. Besides that, translated into an economic impact of 1.3 trillion pesos12.4% more than in 2022 in the same period.
The data comes from the latest Tourism sector report from the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME). “An unprecedented number of popular celebrations and eventsand especially the professionalization of this activity,” the text details.
Between the second half of December and the end of February, Nearly 34 million tourists choose to vacation in local destinations, with an average stay of 4.1 days, slightly less than the 4.6 days in the 2022 season. On the other hand, the average daily spend is $9,259, real year-over-year increase of 18.4%.

Most visited place
The most chosen destination, in the average summer season, is San Carlos de Bariloche, Mendoza, Córdoba, Salta, Puerto Iguazú, El Calafate, Ushuaia, Trelew/Madryn, Tucumán and Mar del Plata.
However, there were strong variations over the surveyed period. For example, the city of Córdoba is the preferred one during the traditional folklore festival in January. Something similar happened in the cities of Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Salta and Jujuy in the February carnival.
