They have over 500 kindergarten places available in Bergen, but in the wrong places.

It writes Bergens Tidende. Half of the village west school district does not have the capacity to give all children a place in their local kindergarten.

– Our challenge is that many of the vacant places are in the wrong places based on where people live and what people want, said city councilor for kindergartens, schools and sports, Linn Katrin Pilskog (Ap).

That leaves the city council in trouble to deliver on the promise that everyone will get it kindergarten place in their immediate environment. They are now looking at the possibility of moving the existing kindergarten.

That is kindergarten with lots of empty space, or located in an area with a roof, it can be moved elsewhere in the city with greater need kindergarten place.

– Changes will occur in connection with the necessary rehabilitation or redevelopment and new construction kindergartenexplained the city council.

That Bergen has the advantage private kindergarten making it more problematic for the city council to change the municipalitykindergarten structure».

– I’m glad that the city shared kindergarten has increased in recent years, as we are unable to determine private kindergarten to be moved or closed. But what we can do is not provide subsidies private kindergarten who want to establish themselves in areas where we don’t need more space, said Pilskog.
