Britain chartered more flights to take British citizens out of Lebanon

London, October 3 (EFE).- Britain will charter a limited number of flights to help hundreds of British citizens leave Lebanon in the coming days due to deteriorating security in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this Thursday. Exterior.

The move comes after more than 150 British citizens and their dependents left Beirut on a flight chartered by the British Government yesterday.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said that soldiers and officials from the Foreign and Home Offices, including Border Force officers, had been deployed to Cyprus to plan the UK’s departure from Lebanon.

British citizens who have registered their presence in Lebanon with the Government will receive details on how to apply for a seat on the flight and those who have not yet registered their presence in Lebanon are urged to do so immediately, the note said.

British citizens and their dependents should not travel to the airport unless they have a reserved seat on the plane, it added.

Foreign Minister David Lammy said in a statement that recent events “have demonstrated the instability of the situation in Lebanon.”

“The safety of British citizens in Lebanon remains our priority. “That’s why we are announcing additional charter flights to help those who wish to depart,” he added.

“I urge all British citizens who are still in Lebanon to register on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (website) and leave the country immediately,” he said. EFE
