Britain says Russia is deploying members of its new Armed Forces formation to Ukraine “for the first time”

MADRID, September 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The British Intelligence Service has emphasized this Wednesday that Russia has deployed members of a new formation of the Armed Forces in eastern Ukraine “for the first time”, within the framework of the invasion of the neighboring country, carried out in February 2022 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Elements of the new 25th Combined Armed Forces (25 CAA) have likely deployed to Ukraine for the first time. “The formation is most likely centered in the province of Lugansk,” they explained, according to a statement published by the British Ministry of Defense via its account on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter.

They also indicated that “recruitment announcements for the 25th CAA indicate that they will only be deployed to Ukraine from December 2023”, before adding that “it is likely that the units were sent into action in part because Russia continues to come under pressure.” in its troops on the front lines and Ukraine continues its counteroffensive in three different directions.”

“However, there is also a realistic possibility that Russia will try to use part of the 25 CAA to reconstitute uncommitted reserve forces in the field to provide commanders with greater operational flexibility,” the British Intelligence agency concluded.
