- 120 exporting companies from seven regions will hold business meetings with 40 international buyers looking to expand their business.

With the aim of reactivating the economy and generating new business opportunities for the sectors of agribusiness, fishing, aquaculture, clothing and decorative goods industries, the Peruvian Promotion Commission for Export and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), together with the Regional Government de Piura, organized the 3rd edition of the conference Expo Peru Norte business 2023.
The commercial platform, which will take place on June 14 and 15 in Piura, will promote rapprochement between 120 Peruvian companies from regions such as Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Cajamarca and Ancash, with 40 international buyers, mainly from Asian countries. such as South Korea, China, and Taiwan.
Other interesting markets present are the United States, France, Netherlands, Russia, Canada and the United Kingdom. This assistance is the result of efforts to identify buyers carried out by the PROMPERÚ Overseas Trading Office, especially in the agribusiness and fishery product sectors.
The main national lines to be promoted are fresh, processed fruits, coffee, cocoa, fishery, aquaculture, and home decoration goods; featuring products such as mango, avocado, lemon, banana, blueberry, brown sugar, passion fruit, squid, silverside, scallops and prawns.
PROMPERÚ reported that the event also seeks to contribute to increasing the export base, providing business opportunities in a special space, both for companies that are already shipping overseas, as well as for those with export potential.
That is why this edition will have an academic block, where specialists and representatives of global markets will give special presentations on business and innovation issues. Likewise, assistance and training will be offered within the framework of the PROMPERÚ Export Route, with the tools to enable them to negotiate and access important world markets.
Prominent area
The promoting entity reports that by 2022, regions will be the main driver of export growth, with 58% of the total going overseas from the non-mining energy sector. The northern part of Peru really stands out with 29.7% participation. This area of the country recorded shipments of over USD 6,284 million, which represents 9.2% more than the previous period.
Likewise, Piura and La Libertad were the two regions that exported the most, amounting to USD 2,489 million (+6.2%) and USD 2,120 million (+3.3%), respectively. On the other hand, Cajamarca was the region with the highest percentage growth, increasing its shipments by 79.9% (USD 542 million) compared to the previous year.
It was also noted that the products of the agribusiness sector that were mostly shipped from the northern region were blueberries, avocados, grapes and raw coffee.
