After his official visit to Bangladesh, Foreign Minister santiago cafiero arrived today at Republic of India and met with his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankarahead of the G20 Ministerial Meeting to be held in New Delhi on Thursday, 2 March.
During the meeting, Cafiero and Jaishankar ratified the intention to continue the study Strategic Association between the two countrieswhich recently got a special boost by going forward cooperation issues in the fields of energy, satellite science and technology, and space and nuclearwhere there is great potential.
Cafiero conveyed Argentina’s position which is in line with much of the work India did this year during its Presidency at the G20, especially the importance of giving a voice to the Global South, facilitating consensus between developed and developing countries. and avoid extreme positions in favor of dialogue and diplomacy.
At the economic level, there is agreement on the possibility of intensifying and diversifying trade and encouraging investment. In addition, the head of the Palacio San Martín said interest in advancing concrete investment opportunities in lithium and energy (oil and gas at Vaca Muerta) and mentions the cooperation agreement recently signed between YPF and oil company ONGC Videsh Limited. They also praised recent bilateral agreement on satellite technologywhere VENG Argentina will sell images from the SAOCOM satellite to Indian company Suhora Space Analytics.
Accompanied by the Secretary of International Economic Relations, Cecilia Todesca Bocco; Chancellor’s Chief of Staff, Luciana Titusand the Argentine ambassador in India, Hugo GobiCafiero thanked Foreign Minister Jaishankar for the support expressed during his visit to Argentina in August 2022 for our country to join the bloc BRICS.
He also highlighted India’s support for the resumption of bilateral negotiations between Argentina and the UK to find an amicable and negotiated solution to the sovereignty disputes related to this Falklands problem.
Cafiero will participate this Thursday, March 2, in the inaugural ceremony of the G20 Foreign Ministers Summit at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center (RBCC), and will speak in the plenary whose debate will focus on multilateralism and the need for reform, food and energy security, development cooperation, the fight against terrorism and humanitarian assistance in the face of global disasters.
He will then be received along with other delegates by the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modiand will be attending the opening of the Raisina Dialogue, where he has already participated in the 2022 edition as part of a previous visit to India.
