China is the main origin of Covirán’s foreign partners

Chinese entrepreneurs have found in Covirán a lucrative business model that has enabled them in recent years gain presence, open new stores and generate jobs. Of the 245 Covirán companies that in 2022 are managed in Spain and Portugal by foreign partners from 18 different countries, 160 belong to Chinese nationals with extensive experience in the commercial sector, all of them are based in our country, i.e. they are responsible from 65% of Covirán’s sales points are in the hands of foreign retailers and employs 451 people. In addition, the role of Chinese women managing their own supermarkets is emerging strongly, whose presence in Spain is increasingly consolidated.

For cooperatives, the contribution of foreign retailers, particularly their Chinese counterparts, has been very positive, largely due to their ability to adapt to local business models.



On the occasion of the celebration Chinese year which took place on January 22, Covirán extends his congratulations and thanks to the entire Chinese community, whose entrepreneurial mentality and persistence to seek profitability and new opportunities to develop their business stand out.

Since the significant data is the incorporation of the second generation in the heads of supermarket management, young people are quite prepared and integrated into Spanish culture and customs.

The number of Covirán supermarkets managed by foreigners is growing. In the last two years, 32 new stores opened, mostly Asian and Latin American entrepreneurs.

Covirán’s multicultural map consists of retailers from China, Pakistan, Venezuela, Morocco, Romania, India, Peru, Argentina, Cuba, Bangladesh, Brazil, Russia, Italy, Colombia, Mexico, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Nicaragua.

It accommodates all entrepreneurs who want to contribute their work and experience, and that they ascribe to the values ​​that have defined cooperatives from their origins: closeness, social commitment, responsibility, and solidarity.
