Colombians no longer need a visa to travel to the UK

On Monday night, president Gustavo Petro announced on his Twitter account that a visa to travel to the UK is no longer a requirement for Colombian tourists. He is also grateful for eliminating this procedure.

The thank you message to the UK gave no further details and has generated hundreds of reactions.

So far, the British embassy has not commented. but George Hodgson, the British ambassador to Colombia, is expected explain the details of the decision from who can access, how and from what date the possibility of traveling to countries such as England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland without requiring a visa will take effect.

This announcement came just in time America’s visa debate is on the political agenda after Colombia’s ambassador to the United States, Luis Gilberto Murillo, announced that he was proposing plans to Colombia can freely enter US territory. Subjects are also pending.

That particular proposal, which is being drafted by Murillo, will be formally presented to President Joe Biden with a view to eliminating the process. If possible, this plan will set a precedent in terms of migration from both countries.

Until now, tourism activities in the UK need to be entered as a “standard visitor” whose visa must be processed with the embassy.
