Jørgen Nordhagen has decided to start skiing. On Wednesday, he topped his competitors in the 20-kilometer free technical at the junior WC.

It was a rare win on the Slovenian slopes of Planica. After 7 kilometers, Nordhagen decided to run, and no one could keep up with the 19-year-old from Tranby on his way to WC gold.

He quickly built a lead of more than half a minute, and after half the race, the gap to his nearest competitor had reduced to almost a minute.

– I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this at this point for 20 kilometers before. He had destroyed his pursuing group, exclaimed the FIS TV commentator.

Nordhagen continued to increase her lead in the following rounds, and there was no doubt who would win the gold medal. At the final break, he led by more than two minutes to his closest challengers, Italian duo Davide Ghio and Aksel Artusi.

After WC, Nordhagen will change sports. He has signed with the Visma-Lease a Bike cycling team, and for the remainder of the season he will ride for the development team there.
