Commercial commitments achieved at the international business conference at Expo Perú Los Andes amounted to USD 10.8 million, double the initial projected figure of UDS 5 million, reported the Peruvian Promotion Commission for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ).
Of this total, USD 2.6 million was completed during the conference and USD 8.2 million will be realized in the next twelve months.
This activity was carried out to promote the supply of exportable superfoods from small and medium-sized companies in Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, Ica and Junín, the regions that make up the Regional Commonwealth of Los Andes (MRDLA), as well as Huánuco, Pasco, Lambayeque, Piura, Lima and Tacna who attended as a guest.
16 buyers from Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Mexico, the UK and Sweden participated, holding 274 meetings with 51 exporting companies and companies with export potential.
The most popular products are ginger (fresh and processed), turmeric, avocado, quinoa, maca, potato chips and kiwicha. Tarwi, honey, passion fruit pulp and chickpeas are also in great demand.
The synergy between the promoter body and the Regional Government of Ica made it possible to carry out this activity thereby making foreign buyers aware of the quality of superfoods offered in the Andean region.
Likewise, some international buyers have participated in reverse trade missions, visiting workshops in Ayacucho, Huancavelica and Junín of the home decoration line, appreciating products such as home textiles, ceramics, buried matts, mirrors, altarpieces, pewterware, furs, dolls , carpets, among others, are expected to increase turnover.
It is important to highlight the excellent results obtained from the activities carried out by the various regional associations in the country to internationalize their products, as reflected today at the Expo Perú Los Andes roundtable.
