PP President, Alberto Nuñez Feijóo, addressed today the ambassadors of Britain, India and Germany, with whom he met in three different meetings at the party’s national headquarters, the crisis in Ukraine and how the Russian invasion affected the international political situation.
In the face of the divisions and discussions of the Spanish Executive, Feijóo has guaranteed the PP’s support to the Ukrainian Government and people in the face of belligerent aggression against a European country that does not want to lose its freedoms, as well as the support of its party to deliver military materials that guarantee the defense of Europe’s borders against authoritarianism.
Both with the ambassador of Great Britain, Hugh Elliott, and with the ambassador of India, Dinesh Kumar Patnaik and the ambassador of Germany, María Margarete Gosse, the president of the PP conveyed to them the basic outlines of the political, economic and social projects with which to govern the country when the voters decide so.
These meetings are part of a round of contacts that the president of the party has had with accredited diplomatic representatives in Spain. In recent weeks, he has met, among others, with the ambassador of the United States, with the ambassadors of France, Argentina, Portugal, Palestine, Japan, as well as with the heads of the Ukrainian, Swedish or Finnish delegations.
Feijóo explained to them that 2023 is a key year for Spain because during the second half of this year our country will become president of the European Union and, in addition, elections will be held which will mean, if the citizens support it, a political change with a new way of governing, far from noise and tension.
For Feijóo, the current international context compels us to continue to make NATO a strong alliance of free nations, strengthen ties with American democracies and at the same time not neglect special European strategic interests, such as those related to the Mediterranean or Latin American basins.
