McCann Worldgroup has just announced that Fernando Fascioli has been promoted to president for Europe and the UK and, at the same time, is chair of Latin America, a region he has led since 2014.
Fascioli replaces Mark Lund, who retired. Lund was appointed Chair of McCann Worldgroup UK and Europe in 2020 after serving as CEO of McCann Worldgroup UK for the previous six years.
Fascioli began his career at McCann Worldgroup in one of the network’s smaller offices, in Uruguay, and has steadily progressed through the development of high visibility management roles in Latin America, making him a leading, experienced and proven talent.
Bill Kolb, Chairman and CEO of McCann Worldgroup, said, “Fernando brings years of successful leadership in our global network to this expanded role and we are pleased to promote him from our own rank to an important regional leadership position. Fernando helped drive the tremendous growth for our Latin American operations and fostered a strong spirit of collaboration among our many offices. And it embodies our commitment to providing our clients with the most creative and effective work in their competitive marketplace.”
Fascioli joined McCann Uruguay and four years later arrived at McCann Peru, where he rose to the position of CEO. By 2007, he had expanded McCann Peru to include several Worldgroup agencies, and the office was named the largest and most successful agency in the country. Fascioli takes over as chief growth officer from McCann Worldgroup Latin America, he became CEO of McCann Chile and in 2014 was promoted to president of Latin America and the Caribbean. Among his many accomplishments, he partnered with the Interpublic Group (IPG) in 2015 to create Graphene, a tailor-made unit to serve Latam Airlines globally.
Under his leadership, McCann was named network of the year at the Effie Awards Latin America and achieved second place in the Crema rankings in the region.
“Fernando has developed an integrated marketing communications model across a wide range of Latin American and Caribbean markets, which aligns with what customers around the world are looking for to drive business and brand growth commented Chris Macdonald, Chairman and CEO of McCann. We know he will bring the same level of passion, innovation and success to our network in Europe and the UK.”
For his part, Fascioli himself stated: “The wonderful people I learned and worked with, at the agency and at clients, were my great liaison with McCann Worldgroup throughout this journey and will continue to be. I envision a seamless network with the ability to solve increasingly complex marketing challenges together with our clients, with a cohesive mix of talent and dedicated agencies that collaborate seamlessly to create meaningful relationships between brands and people to grow a sustainable business.”
To take up his new position, Fascioli will move to London and there he will replace, as has been said, Mark Lund, who stated: “This feels like the end of a great chapter. Working with the brilliant and collaborative group at McCann Worldgroup over the past seven years has been a tremendous privilege and I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together. For me, now is the perfect time to focus on a portfolio of non-executive roles, as well as more learning and travel.”
