Football, Medicine/Health | Mink created complete chaos for the English and Danish national football teams

It is the conduct of upcoming matches in the Danish national league groups that are affected by emerging entry complications.

Fear of the spread of a mutated version of the coronavirus is the reason for the decision by British authorities to tighten quarantine requirements for people coming to the country from Denmark. A mutated virus variant has emerged on a Danish mink farm.

In future, everyone entering the UK and coming from Denmark will have to quarantine for ten days. This has created the purest form of football chaos.

Chaos

On Wednesday, Sweden and Denmark meet in the national league, but they will soon be missing both teams’ Premier League stars. Clubs in England’s elite series refused to let their Danish and Swedish players travel to Denmark, and that resulted in a mandatory ten-day quarantine upon return.

So far, there is no indication an exemption will be granted.

Next Saturday, Iceland is scheduled to face Denmark on Danish soil. And three days later, Iceland will play an away match against England. There will be problems too.

The British authorities, given the current state of affairs, will not allow Icelandic players coming from Denmark into the country without a ten-day quarantine. Iceland risks having to field two different squads for matches against Denmark and England.

– We see it this way, that there are more important things in the world than football, and we just need to adapt to developments, the secretary general of the Icelandic Football Association Klara Bjartmarz told Danish newspaper Politiken.

At the moment he doesn’t know what will happen with England’s game next week.

Schmeichel was disappointed

Denmark’s new national team manager Kasper Hjulmand believes England could be the biggest losers in the current mess. He stated that the European Football Association (UEFA) was putting pressure on the British authorities.

– Huge pressure is being put on the British government, because it is also about the English national team, which, according to my understanding, may be punished for losing the Iceland match, he said.

Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is dissatisfied with the English authorities’ decision extending to international matches.

– The government has made a decision now. I hope they wake up and see that we are very protected and in a bubble. We are always tested. “I hope I can participate in at least one, if not two, matches,” said the Leicester goalkeeper.

New austerity measures in England came into effect on Saturday and will be reviewed after a week.

Denmark’s third international match next season is away to Belgium, which is currently unaffected by the new regulations.
