Police have closed a parking lot belonging to Ulsrudvann and Østmarksætra in Oslo following reports of a forest fire on Thursday.

This case is updated here.

– Until now, we had no control. But we’re working on getting an overview with drones. The winds picked up all night, so I hope we can get it under control before it drags on, team leader Jørgen Lie told TV 2 just before six.

The fire service reported earlier on Thursday that the fire was 300-400 square meters in area.

– Now it burned forty meters, said Lie at six o’clock. They have brought in great resources.

– Now it is dry, so we try to get as much water as possible ahead so that the fire does not pass us by.

Police are advising everyone who is in the forest on the headland in Sørli in Nøklevann or between Ulsrudvann and Nøklevann to go to Haraløkka and get out of the area. There is a risk of fire spreading.

The police recommended evacuation in anticipation of how likely the fire was to start.

“As of now, there shouldn’t be a construction hazard,” reported operations manager Marita Aune at the Police.

Police have already removed several hikers from the area. They are now stopping people on their way to the area.

– Difficult to predict fires. It depends on wind conditions, he said.

The car parks to Ulsrudvann and Østmarksætra are closed.

The public is advised to stay away from the area.

The water supply from Ulsrudvannet has been installed, and the blackout is ongoing.
