– I’ve been fooling myself. During the national gathering on Saturday April 29, I drank too much and lost control of myself. In a nachspiel I was being flippant with some journalists. Several newspapers have covered the event, the Progress Party’s first candidate in Oslo, Lars Petter Solås, wrote on Facebook on Monday.

She wrote this after three journalists from Dagbladet and Nettavisen accused her of groping a male journalist, making threats and suffocating another in the nachspiel at the Frp national meeting last weekend.

– The episode at the national meeting was a black hole for me, and the behavior described was clearly completely unacceptable. Of course there is no reason that alcohol is affecting my judgment here, and I will take responsibility for my behavior, he continued.

Solås later wrote that he apologized profusely to the journalist in question and added that he believed journalists were important in a democratic society.

– And must prevent politicians from behaving in the way I described. Critical journalism must also involve directing a critical spotlight on politicians, he wrote, adding that it is because he understands that the issue is being discussed.

At the same time, he apologized to everyone who had trusted him as the first candidate in Oslo.

– I’ve let you down, and I want to work on building trust again.

– I am very embarrassed. But that’s my own fault, and I’m not the victim here.

He also mentioned his relationship with alcohol and wrote that he was disappointed in himself.

– This case explained to me how unhealthy my relationship with alcohol can be over time, and I didn’t realize how much alcohol was affecting me. I haven’t taken on the responsibility that I should have. I will therefore do everything necessary to ensure that something like this never happens again and have now started treatment with a psychologist.

Solås wrote that he is now on sick leave and in the future it will be more difficult to contact him.
