Galán (Iberdrola), after Isabel II’s death: “He has been an example of dedication and commitment to his country”

Former Trinidad Foreign Minister Jiménez also went to the British Embassy in Madrid to offer his condolences

MADRID, 9 (EUROPEAN PRESS)

Iberdrola’s chairman, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, went to the British embassy in Madrid this Friday to express his condolences over the death of Isabel II, where he stressed that “she has been an example of dedication and commitment to her country”.

“I have come to offer my condolences to the Royal Family and everyone in the UK on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I think that is a big loss. I met him personally. I think he has been an example until the very last moment of commitment and dedication to his country. I think he left a testimony that will serve all of us and future generations”, assured Galán.

The British Embassy in Madrid has opened books of condolences both at its headquarters in the Spanish capital and at British consulates across the country so that those who wish can sign it.

As such, one of those who came to show condolences over Isabel II’s death was president Iberdrola, who met him because in 2014 he was decorated as an Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his work in the benefit of Britain.

In this context, Iberdrola has a strong presence in the UK through ScottishPower, which is the first integrated energy company in the country to own 100% green power generation.

“THAT WILL PLACE A PLACE IN HUMAN HISTORY”

Trinidad Jiménez also went to the British embassy in Madrid to express his condolences.

“Queen Elizabeth II is a great figure in our time, for her country, for the European Union and for the whole world. This has gone through a very important process in our recent political and social history”, Jiménez highlights.

The former minister, who has admitted he has not had the opportunity to meet the queen in person, also considers Elizabeth II “to occupy a great place in the history of mankind” and appreciates “her ability to fulfill her duty”.

“I admire him for his ability to do his job. Seeing how the day before her death the government appointed a new prime minister (Liz Truss), she stands still (…). It symbolizes very well his entire reign. A great woman who always knew how to properly carry out the duties assigned to her as queen, as ruler of all British people.”
