Great Britain will extend the credit limit for DR to £4,000 million

President Luis Abinader received this Tuesday at the National Palace British Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Mockbul Aliwhere it was announced that due to confidence in the Dominican economy, the Government of Great Britain would extend the credit line to the country to £4,000 million.

The British Ambassador also stated that, based on the trust that the UK has in the Dominican Republic, its Government and its economic performance in recent years, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will take place. .

He said that this Memorandum of Understanding would provide the Dominican Republic with access to resources for the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects, including water, public health and transport, providing it with one of the most country-wide coverage in the Latin American and Caribbean region for up to £4 billion in funding. .

The diplomat explained that this MoU is part of a broader cooperation that reflects the strengthening of bilateral relations over more than 170 years of friendship, and is currently reaching new heights. It will be signed at the State Palace in the coming days.

The British Ambassador, Mockbul Ali, said: “The British government is very proud of the unprecedented strength of this bilateral relationship and, as a result, we will sign this Memorandum of Understanding which, for the first time, will be placed at the disposal of the Dominican Republic. up to 4,000 million pounds sterling, to implement major social and economic development projects”.

And he added: “It shows the confidence the UK has in the Government and economy of Dominica as a regional leader with shared values.”
