The BBC is responsible for hosting the singing competitions, one said pers conference from Eurovision.
– We are very grateful that the BBC has agreed to host Eurovision in 2023, said the competition’s chief executive, Martin Österdahl, in a press release.
– We know that next year’s competition will showcase the creativity and skills of one of Europe’s most experienced broadcasters, while ensuring that this year’s winner, Ukraine, is celebrated and represented throughout the event.
Cooperation
Ukrainian broadcaster UA:PBC will work closely with the BBC to ensure there will be a Ukrainian element in next year’s show.
Ukraine, which won Eurovision in May this year, will automatically qualify for next year’s final along with five pre-qualifying nations, including Great Britain.
The bidding competition for UK cities wishing to host will begin next week, according to a press release. A logo that will reflect Eurovision’s unique situation will also be announced later, and it will represent Great Britain and Ukraine.
Security
Host cities will be announced in the coming months. Previously, London, Edinburgh, Brighton, Harrogate and Birmingham have hosted this competition.
The EBU announced earlier this summer that the security situation in Ukraine meant the country would not be able to host its own Eurovision Song Contest until next year. The country was invaded by Russia on February 24 this year.
It had long been planned that Great Britain would host on behalf of Ukraine, as the country finished second in this year’s competition, and had also hosted on behalf of other nations several times before.
