Several countries are participating in the operation launched to evacuate citizens from Sudan, according to the Dutch government.

– The Netherlands participated with a team from Jordan. They will do everything they can to get the Dutch people out as quickly and safely as possible, Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told TV 2 that they knew nothing new about the evacuation of Norwegian citizens who had reported they were in Sudan.

– We are working on several routes with the evacuation of our three envoys and the Norwegian police envoy, both through military and diplomatic channels, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

France announced early Sunday that it had launched an operation to take back French nationals in Sudan. People from other European countries and “allied partner countries” will also receive assistance.

American special forces removed American diplomats from the Sudanese capital Khartoum late Sunday. Sweden plans to send armed troops into the city to extract the Swedes, and Norway is considering the same.

In the past week, there has been heavy fighting between government forces and the RSF paramilitary group in Khartoum.

The situation in the city was very difficult, and an employee at the Egyptian embassy was shot. According to unconfirmed information, shots were also fired at the French embassy convoy of vehicles. (NTB)
