Here are photos and videos of the year
On Friday, TV 2 journalists Aage Aune and Kjetil Iden won the video “Escape from the bombs”, in the “Image of the Year” award ceremony organized by the Pressefotografenes club.
Here’s what the jury had to say:
«This story shows us some of the dilemmas faced by Ukrainian civilians; escape to a safe place or try to take care of their own home.
The report stands out from other contributions with the way cinematic mediums are used in storytelling. One chooses to let the pictures speak for themselves, without drowning them out with reporter comments. Images and comments are rotated in layers and complement each other.
The story is well structured and uses resistance as the engine of drama. Amidst all the misery, there are also flashes of humor and hope. The team allows the viewer to interpret the subtitles in the image itself, without over-explaining them.»
NTB photographer Javad Parsa won the prize for photo of the year Friday night:
Here’s the jury’s excuse:
«This year’s picture is a moving and powerful one. It’s a great depiction of what it’s like to be outside Iran and witness the dramatic revolution that took place there. There is silent and desperate resistance in the picture, which makes your throat choke. This situation affects so many people in the diaspora, and it’s nice to see men in the picture too.
It affects all Iranians, everyone. At the same time, it is the first feminist revolution, which is important at a time of many setbacks.
An iconic image that points to the future.»
Parsa herself grew up in Iran.
The winning image shows exiles sitting in Oslo watching demonstrations in Iran on TV.
