The star-studded field emerged from an update on the traditional Diamond League convention website on Friday.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen started his outdoor season in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday. There he met, among others, Kenyan Abel Kipsang, Australian Oliver Hoare and Spaniard Mario Garcia.
At Bislett on June 15, the opposition was even tougher. The only top runner in the world rankings to lose is reigning world champion Jake Wightman. He struggled with a leg injury.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen topped the world ranking with 3.28.32. Closest to him are the aforementioned Abel Kipsang (3.29,56) and his compatriot Timothy Cheruiyot (3.28,28).
Furthermore, the Sandnes boy has competition from Oliver Hoare, Mohamed Katir (Spain), Josh Kerr (United Kingdom), Mario Garcia (Spain), Neil Gourley (United Kingdom).
Cheruiyot, Ingebrigtsen and Katir also rank seventh, eighth and tenth on the list of the world’s best 1500 meters runners of all time.
Last year, the Norwegian superstar culminated the traditional Dream Mile in Bislett. Now he will try to win the 1500 meters at home.
Kenya’s Timothy Cheruiyot won silver behind Jakob Ingebrigtsen during the Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. Bronze that time went to Josh Kerr.
In last year’s WC, Wightman took gold ahead of Ingebrigtsen, while Mohamed Katir took bronze.
