Today marks one year since Queen Elizabeth fell asleep, leaving the entire world in mourning.

On 8 September 2022, England’s longest-reigning monarch died with a full 70-year term in office.

Shortly before the queen’s death, he managed to express his final wish for succession to the throne. The decision that came to change the monarchy.

Queen Elizabeth’s reign began when she was 25 years old, after her father, King George, died on February 6, 1952.

Last summer, the 96-year-old queen celebrated 70 years on the throne by holding massive public festivals across England. His joy reached its peak, but in the months that followed, the 96-year-old struggled with his health.

Worries before the Queen’s death

Just a few hours later, news came that the boy Prince Charles (74) and his grandchildren William (40) is on its way to the queen. Shortly thereafter, news of his death came.

The Queen’s death would mean a change in the monarchy, which Elizabeth II has held strong opinions about for many years.

In 2005, after Prince Charles married Camilla, 75, Duchess of Cornwall, the Royal House announced that Camilla could never become Queen the day Elizabeth died.

Queen’s last request

However, the Queen’s will changed over time, when last year, before her death, she expressed her last wish to live.

“I am forever grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and devotion you continue to show me. And when the time comes, my son Charles becomes king, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support you have given me,” the Queen said, according to British BBC.

“It is my sincere hope that when the time comes, Camilla will be known as the Empress as she continues her loyal work,” he concluded.

Charles became king after his mother died, and Camilla was made queen consort. However, there is great uncertainty regarding whether Camilla will be given the title of queen.

In April this year, it was announced that Camilla would be given the title Queen of Great Britain and on 6 May this year, King Charles and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey church in London.

Rest in peace dear Elizabeth. You are missed!
