MADRID, August 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Industrial workers in the Scottish town of Grangemouth had blocked several roads near the Ineos refinery on Wednesday as part of a series of strikes to demand better wages amid an energy crisis and in the face of rising inflation.
The blockade had begun a few hours ago and is mostly located on the main road used by tankers to leave the refinery. The move coincided with a series of strikes by workers from various industrial sectors across the UK.
A spokesman for Ineos has indicated that distribution operations are not affected by the strike, according to information from the newspaper ‘The Guardian’. “This area has good relations with subcontracting companies (of which there are many workers),” he said. “We are disappointed by this protest, which took place at the Ineos refinery,” he added.
Several videos spread through social networks showed hundreds of workers along a road near the refinery with banners asking to negotiate with the company.
