Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, is stepping up its ground handling operations using an extendable belt loaderknown as the Power Stow Rollertrack Conveyor.
Already operating at Loganair stations in Aberdeen, Benbecula, Inverness, Kirkwall, Stornoway and Sumburgh, these chargers can streamline and speed up handling processes, provide better working conditions for ramp agents and more environmentally friendly.
“We saw a huge reduction in delays with bulk-loaded aircraft compared to manual handling with conventional belt loaders,” said Maurice Boyle, Loganair’s chief operating officer.
He admits that this investment is saving timelabor and also help improve processes, as the extendable belt loader reduces the risk of back injuries to workers and provides other benefits related to human factors.
Electrification was Loganair’s top priority when selecting new equipment, and electric power choice instead the diesel engine plays a key role in the decision making process.
