Jaguar Land Rover has announced the opening of a new technology center in Madrid for the development of a new generation of autonomous technologies, in addition to two others in Munich (Germany) and Bologna (Italy), the auto company reported in a statement. .
The facility will develop autonomous driving systems for Jaguar Land Rover luxury vehicles, including driver assistance services and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
The three new centers will employ more than one hundred engineers, specializing in autonomous technology, systems and functions, software, verification and hardware. These plants will be added to the other six technology facilities the company has invested in, located in the United States, Hungary, Ireland, United Kingdom, China and India.
In total, the plant employs more than 1,100 professionals who form part of Jaguar Land Rover’s international engineering staff, which comprises nearly 9,000 employees.
“The new international engineering center will allow hybrid work to be optimized in different locations and ensure that we attract the best professionals,” said Jaguar Land Rover Director of Product Engineering Thomas Müller.
The three new technology facilities will provide service and data input to Gaydon, the UK product manufacturing hub, where the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are designed to deliver a ‘fully connected’ customer experience.
The creation of the three new technology centers is part of Jaguar Land Rover’s long-term collaboration with Nvidia, a company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerated computing solutions.
