Jakob Ingebrigtsen took his second straight EC title in cross country – Dagsavisen

It was a demanding course of more than ten kilometers, but Ingebrigtsen had little trouble keeping up. Towards the end, he made up his mind and was able to celebrate his second straight EC title. He finished in 29.31.

He also won in Dublin last year in his first senior cross country competition.

He took the time to wave to the TV cameras along the way.

– It’s a tough course so you build up acid quickly. Everyone is running with a knife to their throat these days and when you run into a wall you have to give up. It’s tiring. You don’t know where the wall is until you run into it, Ingebrigtsen told NRK.

The Norwegian star was the clear favorite in Sunday’s competition outside of Turin and led the entire race. It developed into a tight trio after five rounds, but neither Emile Cairess (Great Britain) nor Belgian Isaac Kimeli could challenge the Norwegian for victory.

– I realized that they were tired, said Ingebrigtsen about competitors.

Caires won silver, while Kimeli won bronze. Ingebrigtsen has had a stellar year and crowned the season with another gold medal on Sunday.

Narve Gilje Nordås is number 21, while Henrik Ingebrigtsen follows two places behind. Per Svela is 60th, while Filip Ingebrigtsen did not finish the competition.
