Juan Carlos I obtained immunity from Corinna Larsen’s lawsuit in Great Britain

The British Court of Appeals, in its civil division, awarded this Tuesday to King Emeritus Juan Carlos I immunity for his actions up to the time of his abdication 2014, at proceedings followed against him in England for alleged abuse which he left to his ex-girlfriend Corinna Larsen.

The court recognized the appeal filed by the emeritus to justify that his actions between April 2012 and 18 June 2014 do not belong to his personal space, it is therefore appropriate to grant him immunity during that period and a trial against him may be held for his actions after his abdication.

In his civil lawsuit, Larsen accused the king emeritus of subjecting him to “harassment” personally or through “agents” in his service, allegedly coordinated by the former director of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), Felix Sanz Roldansomething that was rejected by Juan Carlos I.

According to the plaintiff, those acts, for which he demanded compensation for damages and a court order of protection, “threatens” the safety of her and her children.

emeritus attorney, Timothy OttyMeanwhile, he pointed out that the fact that Roldán had a very close personal relationship with Juan Carlos I would not imply that the alleged acts Corinna denounced were committed in the private sphere because, where there was State immunity, private motives were from the state.

Spain’s former head of state “categorically denies” that he participated in or directed “any kind of abuse” against Corinna and “rejects” these accusations as “untrue”, according to the emeritus’ argument.

“That suspicion is included allegations of grossly inconsistent abuse of power with the important work done by His Majesty in the transition in Spain to a successful parliamentary democracy and his long period of service as ruler”, according to the defense of Juan Carlos I.
