Owners of the latest Kia models can now take advantage of the latest infotainment features more quickly and easily, thanks to the new over-the-air (OTA) function.
Available for all Kia Connect-equipped Kia models from MY22 onwards, OTA capability ensures a customer’s sat-nav unit can receive maps and related software updates wirelessly.
This means customers no longer need to manually download updates from Kia’s official navigation update portal, or visit a Kia dealer to have a technician install updates on their behalf.
OTA update technology provides the latest UK and Europe maps, interface improvements and bug fixes. Kia’s first OTA update campaign, which will end at the end of February, offers a series of targeted improvements, including the implementation of the EV6 ‘Eco’ menu on all other Kia electric models, improved voice recognition and improved 3D map views.
Owners of a Kia MY22 or 23 vehicle with Kia Connect can activate their vehicle’s OTA update retrospectively by installing the latest software version from the Kia Navigation Updates website ( https://update.kia.com/EU/E1 ).
Once the OTA update is enabled, owners will be notified when the update is available via a pop-up notification in the car’s infotainment system, asking them to authorize download and installation. Once the process is complete, they will be offered to scan the QR code to learn about the changes.
OTA updates provide added convenience for customers and will also save time as the navigation and infotainment systems are automatically kept up to date without the need for any action. This is just one example of how Kia is using connected technology to provide a simple and intuitive user experience.
