Malvinas Argentinas: they condemn Britain’s “violations of international law.”

“In the fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly discussing the decolonization process, we stated our firm position regarding sovereignty over the Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich and related maritime spaces and islands,” he added.

Carmona also presented arguments in favor of Argentina’s position and referred to the proposal made by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero, to his British counterpart in March 2023, for the opening of a formal negotiation process in accordance with the General Assembly resolution.

For his part and present at the Assembly together with Carmona, national representative of Tierra del Fuego Rosana Berton stated that “Argentina defends its legitimate claims in an irrevocable and irreversible manner in the face of this forum and other examples of international cooperation.”

“The Malvinas Question is a special case of decolonization that underlies the sovereignty dispute between Argentina and England, and the way to resolve it is through negotiations between the two parties involved in the controversy,” he said.
