Broad Front MPs reject an invitation from the British Embassy in Uruguay to visit the Falkland Islands, given that the sovereignty of the islands conforms to that of Argentina, accepting it is a “bad sign”.

Controversy broke out as a result of an invitation issued by the British diplomatic authorities in a neighboring country to travel to the islands which were occupied since 1833 by the British Empire. yes it is accepted by representatives of the Colorado Party (PC), National Party (PN), Open Cabildo (CA) and the Independent Party (PI).

“We can barely accompany the invitation to the place that is being questioned by neighboring and brother countries, Uruguay’s important commercial partner is Argentina, where thousands of Uruguayans live”, emphasized the representative of the opposition FA, Sebastián Valdomir.

In addition, Melella lamented the fact that “members of parliament from the government coalition have agreed to travel to our Islands sponsored by the British government.whose sole aim is to try to weaken regional support for our country and perpetuate colonialism in the middle of the 21st century”.
