Rector Diana Mondino today agreed with its British counterpart, David Lammythe resumption of weekly flights from San Pablo to the Falkland Islands which had a monthly stopover in Córdoba and had been discontinued in 2018.
They also agreed to “organize a the journey of relatives of the deceased to the Islands before the end of 2024so that they can make a pilgrimage to the graves of the soldiers who rest there.
This was determined by Modino and Lammy after their meeting in New York for the UN Summit.
The Argentine Foreign Ministry stressed that these steps would allow progress in “a more ambitious cooperation agenda in various fields and under a sovereign formula, aims to promote human and economic development and strengthen relations between the islands and the continent.«.
Meanwhile, the Argentine Foreign Minister and the British Foreign Secretary “welcomed the steps taken to achieve better bilateral relations and agreed to speak again at a future opportunity.”
«The need to move forward with concrete measures in terms of fisheries conservation and in favor of better connectivity has been established, based on the arrangements reached in 2018, including the resumption of weekly flights from San Pablo to the Islands, which has a monthly stopover in Córdoba,” the Argentine Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
In turn, it was decided “to continue negotiations aimed at completing the third phase of the Humanitarian Project Plan together with the International Red Cross.”
