Nutcracker Ballet is experienced in augmented reality in the UK

Cuban principal dancer Carlos Acosta, director of Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB), in the UK, today announced a new augmented reality display available for his much-loved ballet: Nutcracker.

On his social networks, Acosta highlights this novelty which is possible thanks to the miracle of technology that allows the audience, using smart devices, to walk around the props and costumes of the show, and also in the real space of the city of Birmingham.

Looking back at the Sugar Plum Fairy’s tutu and lots of hand sewn pearls and sequins, the Mouse King’s heavily embroidered coat and the famous Christmas tree behind her you can see graffiti of dancers and team members for over 30 years. show.

Sign up to NutcrackAR, the newly launched BRB Nutcracker themed event at the Birmingham Bullring which will be available there and at venues around the city center for 12 days from today until opening night of The Nutcracker at Birmingham Racecourse on Friday 17 November.

Following the opening day of Nutcracker at the Birmingham Hippodrome, BRB’s NutcrackAR will also be available in and around Hippodrome Square so that audiences who have abandoned the ‘reality’ of the show can enjoy ‘augmented reality’ throughout this ballet season.

Likewise, every day from Monday to the 17th, BRB will highlight a site in the city on its social networks.
